I was recently asked if I could take a look at a Powerwise charger to see if I might be able to fix it. I agreed, but couldn’t promise I’d be able to. I brought it home and took it apart to figure out which part(s) I needed to order. It’s a Powerwise model 28115-G04. Please note: This article contains an Amazon affiliate link.
I started out with a bit of research and found this very useful video on YouTube by DIY Golf Cart.
Even though the video was helpful, I noticed that the Powerwise charger I was working with was a bit different. The one I was looking at had two circuit boards – #28126-G03 and #28126-G01.
When I searched for a replacement board for this model, I could not find one. I found many different replacement boards, but they were all different part numbers. From the pictures I saw, none of them were like the old board. They didn’t have the orange and brown connections I needed (this was how the two circuit boards were connected).
With a bit more research, I found out that they now supply one circuit board that replaces both circuit boards. You will completely bypass #28126-G01 with the new circuit board. This is only on the Powerwise model without LED lights on the front.
In this case, #28126-G03 (and #28126-G01) is replaced by #28667-G01. I found part #28667-G01 for under $50, got it ordered, and installed.
After I got the part replaced, I took it back to the owner and we tested the charger. It worked!
